VideoCharge Studio
Documentation / Main

Without reencoding output format.

Without reencoding output format is an ability to edit video file avoiding decoding/coding of each frame.

VideoCharge Studio includes an ability to edit video avoding decoding/coding of each frame. As decoding/coding of each frame takes considerable amount of time, using of this mode will give you fantastic increase of file editing speed. Besides, this method of video editing saves 100% of original video and audio quality.

Of course, all editing operations are not accessible while using this method. It is impossible to change file format, parameters of video or audio coding, to add a watermark or precisely cut a video fragment. But some operations such as join single-type files, cutting scenes, splitting files into parts (when precision up to frame is not critical) can be performed.

Operation principle of this method is based on the following: when you split video into parts, cut scenes the nearest index frame independent from others is used as an initial frame. This restriction leads to unprecise video splitting.

While working with the given method of file editing, VideoCharge Studio allows you to use "Editing" mode. This mode decodes/codes lacking frames and you receive a precise result as you would decode/code a complete video. Using this mode you even can add a watermark to a video! Of course, if the watermark shouldn't be visible during full video duration. Unfortunately, this ability is not accessible to all file formats. First, codecs used to video compression are necessary; second, some file formats don't give a possibility to correctly apply this method.

How to edit video without reencoding?

  • In the "Workspace" tree select an input video format and make a double-click on it:

If there are no a necessary format, you can add it.

By default, VideoCharge Studio creates one output Video Format and one output Image Format. That means a video file and a graphic file will be created from a video file. If you don't want to create, for example, a graphic file, select it in the tree and delete.

  • Within the appeared window open "Format" tab.

  • Select "Without Reencoding" output format.

  • If you want to enable "Editing Video" mode, select Editing Video option.

Using this mode you will be able to precisely cut scenes, decode/code video, or add watermarks. Unfortunately, all formats don't support this functionality.

  • Click "Advanced" button to specify additional options.

Within the appeared window you can set FOUR and video codec association for editing video in "Editing Video" mode.

Set options for usage of a key frame.

Key frame is used for cutting scenes, splitting video and some other operations. You can specify which I-Frame frame should be used for the beginning of the video creation: before or after a necessary position.

There are no any restrictions for the end of video coding. So a video could have less duration than it is necessary or video end will be shifted. You can specify the video end using Extract Duration and Extract Ending parameters.

  • Add necessary input files.

    Adding video files for editing.

  • Specify necessary parameters of video editing, e.g. video splitting.

  • Click Generation button to start generation of the files.
